Iolo's Big Bash that raised
£000s for WaterAid.
What a great village to live in. A village full of talented and interesting people - none more so that Iolo Whelan and family.
Iolo celebrated his 40th birthday in style , whilst raising an amazing amount of money for a very worthy charity - Water Aid. The Big Bash saw Iolo complete 40 hours of non-stop drumming and raise well over £4000 - last time we looked on Iolo's 'Just Giving' page.
We were so glad we attended Iolo's Big Bash over the weekend (17th and 18th April), that we thought we would write to say thank you! It was especially marvellous that it was right here, in the Roundhouse, in St. Hilary.
On Saturday night, we joined with villagers, Iolo's friends and family to enjoy a couple of the music sessions: the exciting 'Drum Battle' the talented band 'That Funky Trio'. It was so much fun, that to be honest we wished we had planned to attend more of the events taking place over the 40 hours.
After a picnic in the sun, sat outside the beautiful Roundhouse, we moved inside and spent an evening revelling in the local talented musicians, whilst having a bit of a dance/ boogie. We didn't manage to last to the very end of the marathon 40 hour drumming target and headed home under starry skies marvelling at the secret life of St. Hilary! So perhaps the Times newspaper was correct in saying St. Hilary is the 'Best Village in Wales' - it certainly is in our view.
Thanks Iolo Whelan and family for sharing such a great event - let's hope we don't have to wait until Iolo's 50th before the next Big Bash!
