St Hilary Foragers 5th Annual Produce Market on Sunday 13 October was a great success and resulted in us being able to donate £780 to the St Hilary Church Restoration fund.
Volunteers had been foraging and receiving generous offers of fruit and vegetables in the months leading up to the event and using them it to make jams, chutneys, pestos, soups sweet and savoury pies, fruit crumbles, and cakes. As a result there were over 200 jars of delicious products for sale along with the pies, crumbles and cakes, which were soon snapped up by eager visitors.
|And – despite the weather, we welcomed many of our village residents and a considerable number of visitors from further afield (e.g. Porthcawl, Penarth etc) We would like to extend a huge thank you to them for their generous support. We are also very grateful to those who offered their own grown fruit and vegetables, or volunteered to bake and make jams, and to those who helped run the event on the day - particularly the stalwarts who braved the weather to operate the apple press and who produced the most delicious fruit juice.|
