The 3rd St. Hilary Produce Market, on a wonderfully sunny Sunday 7th October, was very well attended: by villagers, passing walkers, people from Cowbridge, Cardiff and surrounding villages. The afternoon raised over £550, for village projects, including funding of our popular Newsletter for 2019.
A wide variety of locally sourced ingredients where turned into jams, chutneys, crumbles, pies, cakes and soup. Every item of food was either foraged locally (blackberries, watercress, apples, nuts etc.) and / or made by St. Hilary villagers.
A popular attraction at the event was the opportunity to press apples (of which St. Hilary has an abundance). Many bottles of delicious fresh juice were consumed, taken home and enjoyed.
Teas, coffee and cakes were served whilst people happily chatted with their neighbours, making the whole event a lovely community gathering.
A big thank you goes to everyone who made items for sale; helped with running the event and to those who came and bought!
