14/15 July

A great day of fun and games was had by all despite the rain!
What a contrast to the weather we enjoyed at 2018's village day on 14 July when we basked in the sun whilst watching the children run races and compete in the tug of war.
And, this year we combined the fun and activities with the legendary St Hilary Bake Off which used the Wales Year of the Sea theme for cake entries. There were some spectacular entries particularly the young adult section! Well done to Josh (with help from brother Riley) from Bluebell Wood who took the winning prize along with the people’s choice prize of star baker!
Caroline Neudegg won the adult section, Liz Loch  the gluten free and Mary Thomas was thrilled that she had won the savoury pie prize. The novice price was taken by Richard Calcaterra who will be able to move up to the experienced baker section in 2020, much to the delight of Phil Thomas who will be able to maintain his position in the novice section. In fact rumour has it that he has taken his cake home to freeze it so that he can enter it again next time!
A huge thank you to everyone who worked tirelessly to make it a day to remember and welcome to all the new families in the village – we hope to see you again soon!
