Royal Jubilee Celebrations (3 & 4 June 2012)

The villagers are celebrating the royal jubilee over the June bank holiday weekend. The highlights include a BBQ on the Green, the village choir, children's games and activities, village group photograph, lighting of a beacon on St Hilary Down, children's fancy dress competition, music and entertainment.

Sunday, 3 June

2pm to 5pm:
Afternoon tea in the garden (or conservatory) at Ffynnon Wen (no charge)
7pm: Choral evensong in the Church

Monday, 4 June
: Villagers welcome to see garden and have a glass of wine at Pinklands
11.00am: Quizzes and competition's available from the Bush Inn
12 noon: BBQ and picnic on the Green (BYO salad and drinks and chairs) or Village Hall (and tents!)
(nominal charge)
3.00pm: Games for the children on the Green
4.00pm: Tea & cakes in the Village Hall (nominal charge)
Village Choir singing period songs in the Hall
4.30pm: Tug'o'war on the Green
5.00pm:   Children's 1950s / Royalty fancy dress competition at the Bush Inn

5.15pm: Commencement of children's boules competition at the Bush Inn
6.00pm:   Ringing of Church bells
6.45pm: Village group photograph on the Green
7.00pm:   Quiz and competition prize giving at the Bush Inn
7.15pm:   Jazz outside the Bush
9.30pm:   Procession to The Clump for the lighting of the Beacon (10.15pm) BYO torches!
NB: we will be joined by similar processions from Cowbridge and Aberthin
Late:         Evening entertainment with Stanley Strong at the Bush Inn
There will be a raffle on the day.  Prizes include a signed Cardiff City FC shirt, a Grand Slam DVD and commemorative items.
