Abertin is a small village of about 150 houses, with two pubs, a stream and a very special tree.  It is pronounced with emphasis on the second syllable, unlike most Welsh town names which begin with 'Aber'. The village's name is actually a corruption of the name of the brook, Nant Y Berthyn. It has a thriving village hall which many years ago was a chapel. It is believed that there was once a monastery on the site of the Great House in the 12th-13th century. Click here to access the Aberthin village website.
